I had an initial consultation with Paul Totaro today on an issue surrounding back taxes and was beyond impressed. He spent 40 minutes patiently answering all of my questions and advising me on how I could proceed with the handling the situation myself, without having to needlessly incur fees. He was very informative and beyond helpful. If I ever need CPA services or know anyone who does, this would be the firm I would choose--service and amazing ethics. Thanks!

I never leave positive reviews, because I am "that" person. BUT.Paul Totaro went so above and beyond I had to. I called in to this firm as a potential client with a back tax question that was fairly involved and Paul spent 40 minutes on the phone with me patiently answering all of my questions and advising me on how I could handle the case myself, with a step by step detailed analysis of how to do so, as he did not want to waste my money when it was doable by me.

I cannot tell you how appreciative I was of his time and ethics. I can guarantee you should I or anyone I know need a CPA THIS is the type of person I would choose. Beyond impressed!

Ann Andrews has prepared our taxes for years and is superb. We've had something different with our taxes every year and each situation has been professionally handled. I would trust this firm to always do the right thing.

BTAS has done my business taxes for many years now, and I am incredibly happy with their services. Josh Little, their senior tax manager, has done an excellent job with my returns and is always professional, helpful, and quick to respond. Best of all, they put up with me as a client, as I can never seem to get my quickbooks data to them before the very last moment! Highly recommended

The CPA can only review with the information that is provided to them. They did an excellent job with my taxes and got them completed in time so I didn't have to file for an extension. They had to do extra work on mine as I live in a state with state taxes and they were able to get the correct state forms and find some savings for me. They answered my emails and calls promptly and I found their rate very reasonable. I wouldn't judge them by the past 1 review.

This is the most abusive, least professional experience with a CPA me or my husband have ever had. Today, I was listening to a phone conversation between my husband and one of the founders of BTAS, Paul Totaro, who is without a doubt one of the least professional people in this industry, and I was floored by Paul's behavior. During this call, Paul yelled at my husband - berated him, really - for daring to suggest that the communication hadn't been ideal to date, instead of listening and attempting to explain or fix the situation to our satisfaction.

After several instances where Paul or his subordinates hadn't bothering showing up for scheduled meetings, an almost complete lack of responsiveness to email communication over the course of literally several months, and at least half a dozen redundant requests of us from new names at BTAS that kept getting added to conversations in lieu of old ones (apparently they have a lot of turnover in their employee ranks, and I can see why) to connect them with our bookkeeper - apparently no one had saved records of our conversations in files that would have eliminated redundant work for my husband, which is kind of one of the benefits of hiring a CPA firm in the first place - we felt we needed this call to clear the air, and politely inform them that we were going to switch to another firm for the remainder of our tax work.

But that's not how it went. After we mentioned this, incredibly, Paul went into a fit of rage and yelled at my husband "well we don't want anything to do with you either!" We felt like some authoritarian principal had called us into his office to berate us, rather than what was really happening, which was us politely firing a service provider that we thought was at least prepared to be professional about it and, who knows, maybe could have some introspection about the situation as a company who failed to meet at least one client's expectations (seems like, from reviews, it's way more than one, however).

We came to BTAS with high trust through someone who used to be involved in their day-to-day client relations. I see that their only positive review to date references this person, but unfortunately that review is old and since we started working with BTAS, this person stopped working day-to-day with the company. That is where all our problems began - once we got kicked to Paul and the revolving cadre of his subordinates.

I hope no one else has to experience this, and if this review can dissuade others from getting trapped in this sort of abusive professional relationship, only to be left late into tax season to start over, then I'm glad I posted it.

Warning do not use this place they do not know what they are doing! Last year we used them to finalize our 2014 Tax Return after we had filed for an extension in April using Turbo Tax. When we turned it over we asked to check what we had done plus to add K-1 information which is why we always have to do an extension. When they gave us the draft to review I found five (5) errors!

We are not accountants in any way but we found these errors. Three (3) of them we just entered wrong. But, hen we asked about two (2) of the errors, they said they weren't sure how to handle it so they just did it however. We did some research and ask them to as well, and found out how it really should have been done. I should have written the bad review then.

But I didn't. This year, we decided to do our 2015 Tax Return (both the extension and the final) ourselves. Now that I'm working on the final version entering the K-1 data, I have found another error in how the 2014 was done! Fortunately, it doesn't actually impact our returns for either year, but it does impact carryover losses that we may be able to use at a future date. This firm is the absolutely worst I have ever worked with. Proceed at your own risk.
