I am opening a single member LLC. An attorney I consulted with recommended small business accounting service. So I made an appointment to see what services they offered and pricing. When I arrive the receptionist gave me a form to fill out which ends by asking for $135 for an hour consultation. I inquire with the receptionist that I only need preliminary info about their business and who they might be able to assist me and pricing.
She went to talk to someone and told me they would be out to speak with me. Doug Parks entered the room a few minutes later. He introduced himself and sat down. After an uncomfortable time of silence and direct eye contact, I began to explain my purpose and asked for information of the services they offered. He vaguely alluded to some money he might be able to save me and ended with "we don't teach you how to do it.
A dentist don't teach you how to pull teeth." I responded by assuring him I did not need him to take me to school and only needed info on his services and pricing so I could determine if I might be able to use his business. i have never felt more insulted for considering using a business. I have the money to pay a CPA today in cash. But not with a company that treats me like trash.
I ended the meeting by stating that I was still looking around and might contact him later. His response was good luck with that. I feel everyone needs to be aware of how Doug Parks disrespects and devalues his potential clients. Needless to say I have acquired and paid in full a different CPA who was more than happy to help me.
