I contacted Chauncey and he handled this situation immediately and positively, this is how you retain a customer. He was genuinely disturbed by how we were handled and made it right.

I went to Barton CPA in 2021 for a consultation regarding a type of financial transaction that is known for potentially causing a big tax liability if not done properly. In the past, my tax situation was fairly straightforward to the point where I filled my own taxes. But with this new situation, I knew (and was advised by my financial advisor and others) that I needed expert advice to ensure I did not incur excessive, additional taxes.

I met with a senior tax accountant at Barton's Palm Springs office, explained the situation to him, and provided him with the documentation he requested. A few days later, I received a message from him explaining that I would not be hit with additional taxes if I proceeded with the transaction. Based on his advice, I proceeded to do the transaction.

This year, when I prepared my taxes, I was coming up with an additional tax liability because of the transaction in excess of $48,000. When I discovered this, I went back to him to review what I came up with. He reviewed my tax return, along with two other CPAs, and they all came to the same result. He simply apologized and explained that he "misunderstood the nature of the transaction." If a "misunderstanding" by their senior tax accountant can cost me over $48,000, I'm afraid what the non-senior accountants could cost others.

They purchased my old CPA's firm last year. I gave them my taxes a month ago in March, in the Palm Springs office. I Waited until Tuesday 4/12/22 to call, they said my taxes were done and in review, they should be ready for pick up Friday 4/15/22. I called Friday, they put me through HELL, transferred me from person to person, Cathy, Yari, Deseri, Aaron, left multiple messages NO ONE returned my call!

Then FINALLY SATURDAY 4/16/22, a nice lady by the name of Marilyn, who knew NOTHING about taxes, told me my taxes papers were shipped off to Palm Desert office to be worked on, even though I live and work in Palm Springs, Then they say you can pick them up Sunday, then they said OOOPS! We are not going to open Sundayl, when they just told me they were!

Even the Firms Director Chavachi Thompson never returned my call! I am sure I will get audited, but I have no choice, tomorrow, Monday 4/18/22 is tax day. I have NEVER been late filing or, had a company FILE AN EXTENSION WITHOUT MY PERMISSION OR KNOWLEDGE! RUN FROM THIS PLACE!

Technically antiquated, slow response, and lousy client communication. We experienced lost documents, 2-week response times and an inability to listen to our questions and accommodate our requests. We had a horrible experience with Kathy Cintas, one of their staff accountants. We have documentation of these allegations.

I've been using Barton CPA for several years now for personal and business needs. They are all very professional and thorough with their advice. They really think about what is the best course of action especially for my business and either handled or guided me through every step to achieve the best results.

I am a former licensed California CPA as well as a current licensed Real Estate Broker. I had a time sensitive IRS issue and contacted this firm to provide professional services to help me with this matter. I signed an engagement letter and gave them a retainer fee, which they cashed. It had been five days since dropping off the documents, letter and retainer fee and had never heard from anyone.

I contacted them yesterday Jan 11 and they told me that they were not handling this IRS issues. Nobody from Barton CPA contacted me about the change in policy. I would run not walk away from this company. They breached so many ethical and fiduciary duties. I had to give them 1 star in order to do this posting, other wise they'd receive negative starts. This is by far the most unprofessional organization I have ever dealt with.

I have been working with Greg Barton and many people on staff at Barton CPA for years now. They are an excellent team of accounting professionals who I refer often to my own friends and clients. Greg is such a sweet man and also really knows his stuff. He is patient and always makes himself available to help you when you need it. He's helped us get out of some crazy tax issues over the last few years and we are so grateful. Angela at the reception desk always goes out of her way to provide outstanding service in a welcoming manner.

My taxes are usually pretty simple, so I'd gotten pretty accustomed to using Turbo Tax. This last year was the first time I had multiple W2s -along with a move, health insurance, & a few other life changes- so I decided I should sit down with a tax professional instead of trusting the online systems I'd previously used, & it certainly paid off!

Not only was my return bigger than it's ever been, but Greg was able to explain to me exactly where all that return money comes from & what I can do to expect an even larger return next year. On top of that, the admin staff are incredibly friendly & their offices are so hip it's almost FUN to make an appointment. I will definitely be back!

My family and I have been using Gregory for a few years now. First couple of years went well. But this last tax season, one of his associates made mistakes that made us owe $6000 more than we should for just one of the filings. When my mother in law made an appointment with Gregory to point out the errors, he got all snippy and defensive. Gregory Barton and associates said they would fix it and hold off on e-filing.

But then they decided file our taxes with all the errors on it and file an amendment afterwards. Gregory made us aware that we would be getting bills from state and federal; and to let him know when that happens so he can call them personally to make sure they received the amendment and everything is fixed. But now he is no where to be found and will not return phone calls. Taxes are complicated; that's why we pay a large amount of money for assistance.

But if one of my relatives has to tell you how to do your job correctly, then I think one of the associates needs more training before handling complicated business taxes. We basically paid over a thousand dollars to do our own taxes and deal with the IRS ourselves. If you still decide to give these people your business, be prepared and willing to look over everything carefully; or spend as much time doing your taxes yourself. You won't waste your money doing the latter.

I had Barton and Associates, specifically Arthur, complete my 2014 tax return. After not receiving my refund for over a year and spending over 30 hours on the phone with the IRS, and attempting to get in contact with Arthur, nothing came out of it. Arthur asked me to sign a power of attorney form so he could take care of my taxes.and did nothing nor did he get back into contact with me.

I finally had to have a different accountant from a different agency help me with completing an amended tax return, because after finally getting answers from the IRS, they informed me that my tax refund was filed incorrectly to begin with. I have spoke with several associates at Barton and Associates and they have all seemed courteous, professional and knowledgable. Unfortunately, I did not work with any of them. I worked with Arthur. So if you end up getting your taxes done at Barton and Associates.avoid Arthur like the plague! TurboTax would be more helpful than him
