I decided to use the accounting services of Mordfin Group for my individual tax return. The work was done by and my communication was entirely with a junior staff accountant. Although a little expensive, the work was fine. Not good, not bad. Just fine. However, fast forward a few months. I set up a meeting with the admin, Jennifer, to meet with Stuart Mordfin.
I wanted to discuss details about a S Corp that I was looking to start up. Stuart was clueless about everything. Every answer was, "I'm not an expert, I'll have to talk to my guy." On S Corp filings, not an expert. On SEP/IRA, not an expert. How are you even a CPA!? I can use Google myself! Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere!

I act as a liaison for potential clients and employees for accounting firms. Mordfin has been in business for a very long time, but let's focus on modern times. Benny and Cathy are very good accountants, that know their stuff. But, they aren't good with leadership. For that reason, this firm has had a lot of turnover with its junior staff. As for the partners, Stuart is absolutely out to lunch.
More concerned with the firm's sponsorship of some obscure racing team than its daily operations. Last I heard, he didn't even have the most recent tax return software installed on his computer. He is notorious for watching videos in his office all day. Not the least bit respected among the management, accounting and administrative staff. Michael, the other partner, does most of the reviewing when it comes to tax returns. However, he is prone to cutting corners and taking shortcuts. Sometimes, it seems he is more interested in poaching clients for his own sole practitioner firm. To cut to the chase, much better accounting options out there!
