We hired Klatt last year to prepare our taxes. They sent the completed return to sign and had gotten my name wrong (used my husband's last name which is not my last name). Usually I just let this sort of thing slide, but in this instance I was upset as the preparer A) had all of my financial paperwork with my legal name written all over it, B) he was preparing a return on my behalf yet clearly had zero attention to detail, and C) I was paying them for this "service". To top it off, when we asked for the name to be corrected the preparer was quite curt with us for asking for the change and did not apologize.

Klatt and associates are great! We were in a bind with our car and needed to buy one right away, I wasn't sure if we also need to pay in this year for taxes. So I needed to know ASAP before buying a car and Aaron helped get me an answer right away making my other decision easier! Great service and really understanding!

Kelly has been a huge help for us in answering all of our business tax questions and I can't say enough good things.

Klatt & Associates was extremely easy to work with to file my 2016 Tax returns! I have had issues in the past with other places and Aaron assured me that he would take care of me with out the sorts of issues that were overlooked previously. I received an information packet prior to turning in my information. The packet was helpful because it gave me all of the information necessary to make the process smooth and easy for both Klatt & Associates and myself. Excellent services for my unconventional taxes as an expat with the United Nations. Reasonable prices for a quick, personal solution. Not only was I referred by two other colleagues with equally challenging returns but I just refered another colleague with multiple nationalities and accounts abroad. Aaron just seems to know how to work things out no matter what then filing is like.

I worked with Kelly at Klatt & Associates and she made getting my taxes done the easiest it's ever been. Highly recommended!

First off, this is in a big, brown building that's near some apartments on South Duff. The sign isn't huge, but I did drive past it once. It's a brick building, and it has private parking in the driveway. Parking is nice. The office itself has its own door once you go inside. The closest door to the parking lot will get you to their office as soon as you walk in.

I called about an appointment right before tax time (bad timing on my part), but they were willing to answer a quick question via e-mail before I had my scheduled appointment date, so that's definitely nice service. Once I arrived there, everybody there was fantastic. The receptionist was really friendly, and even though I showed up 10 minutes early (just to make sure I was on-time), I was taken straight to the office to meet with my CPA (in this case, it was Dan Scoles).

As bonus points for the receptionist, I wanted to make sure I had money to go downtown in Ames, and I asked for change for a dollar. They don't keep a cash register (or cash) there, but she dug in her purse and ended up getting me quarters for my dollar. I love that she went out of her way to help. Dan was completely forward and upfront about what I needed to do, and he even printed me off some information.

He seemed extremely knowledgeable about what he was doing, and he offered suggestions about things I hadn't thought about doing. He was very down-to-Earth, and he explained my options for things - and also explained what he thought would be the best option. I came in with a list of pre-written questions, and he answered almost all of them without being prompted - just by himself when explaining what he'd recommend and what should be done.

My only complaint is that I couldn't pay for my service at the time I had it done. I particularly dislike having bills sent in the mail, and I'd rather just pay right up-front. However, they'll be sending a bill in the mail for me instead.
