I have used Mark R. Stanhope CPA for a number of years and have been extremely satisfied with Mark's services. Mark is responsive, a good communicator, knows the tax code, and is very efficient. When I have had a question Mark and his team have gotten back to me almost immediately with clear and easy to understand answers and recommendations. I discovered Mark Stanhope when I moved to the area in 2016 and found that my tax situation had become too complex for me to handle alone, and while using a well known tax preparation software. Mark told me what documents I would need, including returns from the preceding 2 years. He submitted amended returns for my previous 2 years and got me refunds on both.

He then filed my current return and although we did owe some money, I now had much higher confidence in the accuracy of the filed returns, both federal and state. Since that first year, our situation has continued to grow in complexity and I no longer worry when tax time comes 'round. I fill out Mark's annual summary survey and return along with my receipts and am amazed that I typically get back my completed return, ready to file, in just a few days.

Though we have had a few years where we owed money on our returns, this year (2021) was very tough for my wife and me. I had a job change and my wife had 2 job changes, we sold our house and moved from MA to NH. Coupled with some 401K rollovers, and our tax situation was even more confusing and beyond my ability to manage. Mark, again, looking closely at all options, found us a surprisingly large refund for the year.

I was thrilled this filing season to learn that Mark will be able to continue filing our Federal and MA returns even though we have moved out of state. Mark is personable, professional, and very knowledgeable. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending him to anybody who is looking for any of the services his firm offers.

Trust me Mark and his son will make your life so much easier. You go there give them your forms and in 5 minutes they get everything done. Me and my sister go there every year even after moving further away. They are awesome!

Over the past two years, Mark helped save me more money than I could've even dreamed of. With the pandemic, I was laid off and had to freelance and do my own business. With that, my taxes were more complicated than ever in my history. The first year, Turbo Tax was saying that I was about to owe around $700 but Mark helped me put in the correct info where it needs to be and ended up getting me a refund of almost double!

This year I was about to be slammed because I had so many 1099's but with his magic and grace we got the number to something reasonable and affordable. For any young business owners or entrepreneurs, I would highly recommend a CPA because there are so many hurdles to jump and it takes years to get the proper knowledge on proper tax filing. Mark, has been doing my taxes for many years. He is a very personal individual who is extremely professional and detailed oriented. He is always available for any questions you might have and I would recommend Mark in a heartbeat

Sadly, our long-time friend and accountant contracted COVID and died in January. Fortunately, we found Mark. He was sympathetic, professional and personable throughout the tax return preparation process. He met with us quickly and, within three days, had our tax return ready for signature and filing. Mark & team have been preparing my taxes for years and have always done a great job. They are thorough, ask all the right questions, and know what information to collect to get me the best return possible.

Mark has an Old School kind of feel about him and is not comfortable with modern banking (for example, he will not/cannot log into an account to retrieve the transactions). Communication is poor/non-existent. I gave access to my accounts so that he could quote me bookkeeping services and also tax prep for my business. After repeatedly reaching out to him, he finally told me that he is going to pass and not take on my work. Life only gives you so many chances. Mark used his one chance with me. I recommend others not give Mark the chance I did.

I found Mark locally here in Hudson. He prepared 4 years' worth of back tax returns and an estate tax return so that I could close my dad's estate. He handled these with expert understanding, compassion, and hassle-free expediency. He even prepared an additional form to try to get some IRS fees on the estate reduced.
