Cotton was founded in 1981, with one partner and a handful of auditors, and has continued to expand its client base and range of services. Once providing limited financial audit services to our federal clients, we have grown to a firm of 15 partners and more than 200 professionals providing a full range of audit, accounting, information assurance, and consulting services.
We believe that the foundation upon which the CPA profession built its "most-trusted professional" reputation is independence. Cotton does not just strive to maintain independence, we insist on being fiercely independent. We do not take on consulting engagements for any audit clients. We do not do any audit work for consulting clients.
At Cotton, we firmly believe that our employees are our greatest asset. Cotton has 15 partners with diverse backgrounds, interests, and talents. Several partners joined Cotton at the entry-level, right after college graduation and worked their way up through the firm. All partners have extensive technical experience in one or more specialized areas, but also possess an overall understanding of Cotton's diverse practice.
