Donald provides tax prep and accounting help and is laid back and old school. If you're looking for a high powered accountant to maximize your deductions or kick start your business, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. You won't find him on the cutting edge of the business or financial world, but if you need basic, affordable accounting or tax work, he could be a good option.

Hired this CPA to provide business accounting, file S-Corp, set up employee to file taxes and either pay on my behalf or tell me what to pay to cover taxes for employee and quarterlies. Originally asked for payroll too however after over three months of being told they weren't ready and I was not set up, I just ended up doing it myself. They did a few months of monthly book keeping and nothing else. Had to hire a separate accountant to fix this, do investigative work to find out what was done and not done. Discovered the s-corp was never filed, my employees taxes never paid, quarterlies were never submitted and I was never told what to pay for these based on my bookkeeping. Kept providing excuses when I asked questions and pushed me off for another date but when tax season rolled around I was still getting the brush off.

I cancelled my tax appointment when I found out the S-Corp was never filed and requested my money back on the previous 2 months of book keeping that I never received. Never got the book keeping nor a refund.

I've know Don Strom for almost ten years now. He's an accomplished CPA who is dedicated to his family, his accounting practice, his church, and his beloved University of Michigan. I'm a creative person and small business owner and admit I've always disliked working with and dealing with taxes. Our personalities just always seemed to clash, and I could never accept being spoken down to or the condemning looks when I asked honest questions. Don Strom is different. Always patient and speaks to me with respect and patience.

Strom sent out fliers in 2016 that appeared to say he was endorsed by the UM Alumni Assoc. I called the Alumni Assoc. - NO. Absolutely not. Totally wrong and illegal use of their logo. Pretty typical of his brand I'd say!
