I've been a satisfied customer of this company for several years. Every tax situation is unique so that may affect your opinion of who you work with. I like that they are friendly and professional. I am a consultant with my own incorporation (I'm the only employee). My income varies each year and it includes a variety of income from W2 to 1099 to sales of books or other items. Jenkins sends me a form to fill out in advance, I save my receipts and write down my expenses and income.
If I stay organized throughout the year the process with Jenkins & Company is pretty simple. Every year I have received refunds. When I request a meeting I get it. When I am travelling and working in another state I can just mail in my forms and they handle everything remotely.

I heard great things about this company from two people who've been using them for years. I started a new business and used them to assist me with my taxes as well as get some insight on how exactly I am supposed to be keeping my books. I spoke with Jim when I first came in that was extremely knowledgeable and made me feel much better about my tax situation for that year than I had previously thought, but he was not the one to actually prepare my return.
I was originally told that my return would be done well before tax day (I brought them in late-February if memory serves me properly) but after several weeks of not hearing from them I called and was told that they were swamped with work and that they would be filing an extension. Not only that, but the lady that was preparing my taxes had changed and now somebody else would be preparing them - so I had to explain the entire situation over again to someone new.
They didn't finish my return until June and I paid my bill in July only to find out today that even after I paid they never actually filed my return and never marked in their books that I had paid my bill (a book-keeping company that doesn't keep good records of payments from customers?). I was also told when I paid my bill that someone would be calling me to arrange a time to sit down with me and explain some tax questions I had and also they were supposed to refer me to a service they use to setup my QuickBooks, both of which never happened. Regardless, my honest opinion is that they are probably a good service (based solely on the referrals I was given from two friends who use them) but the staff they have cannot handle the work load they had through tax season, which is why I gave them 3 stars instead of 1.

My wife and I recently moved to Michigan after great tax service from ETS in La Habra, CA. Last year was our first year using Jenkins and we had a good experience. It helps when you sit down with one of the senior accountants, I think his name was Jim, and you get back a hefty refund. It's the only reason they get two stars instead of one. This year has been another story. First, I tried to make an appointment and was told to just drop off our records.
I would have preferred a meeting, something personal. I would soon learn this company has no interest in anything personal. Second, I called two weeks after dropping off my paperwork to check the staus of our taxes and was told that the person working on our account is currently busy with corporate clients and would get to us as soon as possible. I know corporate clients are more important, but you probably shouldn't tell a regular client that. Telling me she was busy would have been sufficient. Third, once the work was done we didn't get any refund overall, we owed money.
This was quite shocking after having never owing any money to the government in my entire life. Yes, I get that the economy is tough and everyone is probably discovering what I did, but the company and accountant didn't even have the heart or tact to explain what happened. For $350 I expect an explaination. They also didn't have the decency to discount the rate, like my old accountant used to for clients if he couldn't get them money back. Fourth, after paying the bill in the office, we received an invoice in the mail as if we didn't pay. How incompetent can this office be? So, we are done with Jenkins and moving on next year to H&R Block, Turbo Tax, or whatever else we can find.
