4.5 Don't let the ball caps, cartoon-watching and giggling at people falling down fool ya: I'm a bona fide adult. I own a home. I paid off my student loan debt. And, I have a CPA -- in a fancy building, no less! When I was moving back to Nashville, I knew I needed a lot of grown-up things. After finding my banker through a friend/classmate, I used his expertise to point me in the direction of some folks who could make sure my taxes and finances were in order. That's another mark of an adult: plowing through Turbo Tax in 45 minutes no longer is an option when investments, real estate, weird forms, and the like all come a'knockin' at your door.
You need experts who speak the language. I found that with Faulkner Mackie. But beyond that, I found a collective of incredibly nice, professional, smart, and giving people. That's most important. Walking in to the West End office space, you know that you've made a good choice. From the minute you walk in, you're greeted with a smile and an offer of cold water. Yes, please.
The office space is well laid out, professional yet accommodating & inviting, and - wow - are the views spectacular. There have been times when discussing my assets and liabilities that I zoned out and stared at the ever-changing landscape of this city. I'm a smart guy. I know a lot of things. Intricacies of the financial world are not a part of my knowledge base.
Despite this, no one here has ever made me feel anything less than stellar even though I am sure I ask the same pedestrian questions over and over again. The CPAs here are skilled, determined, dogged, easy to talk to, and they ask all the right questions. There's no doubt that they are thorough and exact and that's precisely what you want when it comes to your money.
They had me at 'hello' when they went over my previous year's filings and found more money! Putting more money in my pocket will always make me a happy guy. Always. In addition to their professionalism, they're patient and extremely kind. I have the tendency to prattle on like Bubba talking about shrimp. Never once has anyone extricated themselves with a hurry from my tales. It's the little things that add into big ones. It's a bonus that CPAs know the benefit of this sort of mathematics.
