I have used Benchmark Aspen for numerous years for my business and personal tax returns. Norris was always very slow to respond to requests and always waiting until the last minute to complete returns. I made it a point to have my files to him the first week of January each year and I would be calling him on Tax Day asking why my returns were still not complete.

I could overlook that issue. I also caught numerous issues on his returns such as unapplied estimated payments.which he calculated and had me send in. Yet, he forgets to put these on the final returns which would result in a double payment? The final straw happened on my 2017 return when I sold my business. He was again late doing the calculations, was not prepared for the meeting, and seemed to be completely out of his league when doing the returns.

I switched accountants in 2019 and they had several questions based on the carry forward data. Good thing they started asking questions! They asked to review the 2017 return and found that Benchmark / Norris completely did the return wrong and had me overpay the taxes by a HUGE amount. Now I'm waiting for the IRS to refund the money. When I contacted Norris for a refund on the terrible work that was done, he said that it was not his problem. I've turned the matter over to my attorney to handle, but I hope to save others from going through this painful experience.

Norris t Benchmark Aspen Was incredibly knowledgeable, really cares about your tax situation and he was available for an immediate emergency. We used him for a second opinion and thank God we did because he saved us so much time money and aggravation. He certainly has the experience and not out trying to gouge us! We plan on Using him in the very near future as our primary.

I am fuming, beyond FURIOUS right now! We have had our taxes done here by Norris for quite a few years with no issues. This year when I filled out the pre-tax worksheet that he sends us every year, I crossed out the routing number and account number for our OLD checking account that had previously recieved our electronic refund, and provided our New numbers.

After waiting a few weeks and checking the IRS "where's my refund?" page several times, it finally said that our refund (which we are in desperate need of!) had been sent and deposited into the bank. Today after my debit card was refused, I contacted my bank who told me that the refund had been directed to our old and closed account, so it was returned to the IRS!

I immediately called Benchmark Aspen and spoke with Norris who seemed totally unconcerned, did not apologize for HIS error, and said "I'll see what I can do" as far as my request that he contact the government to fix the situation. This it is crucial that we receive the refund quickly because we have just begun planning our daughters wedding, and there are time limits to put deposits down to save the date, and venue that she has chosen.

I managed to speak with a representative of the IRS (FINALLY!) this morning regarding the situation. I was informed that once a refund has been returned to them by a bank, it cannot be attempted electronically a second time. Now we will have to wait for the IRS to realize the bank has returned it, then wait for a check via U.S mail which can take from 4-6 weeks!

Then the bank will have its own hold of 5-7 working days before funds become available! He has put us in a very emotional and stressful situation by not checking his own worksheet! No apology, no help, no concern from Aspen Benchmark at all.
