Services
While the state has not had an income tax on a person's earned income, it has taxed certain interest and dividends received. There are a number of exceptions, e.g., bank and credit union interest. The Hall Tax on unearned income is being phased out and will be eliminated by 2022. The schedule for the phase out is as follows for the tax rate.

This was the first year I have used Mr Heinemann for my tax preparation. I will let you know my experience and you can decide for yourself. Mr Heinemann had our taxes for over a month with no update. I inquired on status and was told that the deadline for filing had been extended to May 17th but was given no status as to completion of our taxes. I waited about 2 weeks and emailed to check in.
No response. My husband then called and was told they were on his desk and he would get to it that Friday. 2 weeks later with no response we called again with the exact same answer. The tax deadline was the next week. The Friday before the tax deadline we received a call at 5 PM. They left nor VM. I showed up the following Monday to pick them up assuming that on the deadline for filing they would be ready.
They were but I was instructed to make sure to make an appointment next year as not to make others wait. I'm perplexed as to when I was supposed to make an appointment when I was given zero update on the status. There will be no next year period.

Mr. Heinemann is a thorough and scrupulous accountant who has been a big help to my business. I love the fact that he is responsive and quickly returns my calls.
