In January of 1997, Mike, a new client with Aukema & Company P.C., received a phone call from his accountant. Mike was instantly concerned. Previous accountants had never requested a meeting to go over his year-end results. He usually just received the forms in the mail, signed them, and that was the last he heard from his accountants until the next return was due.

Aukema & Company wants its deliverables to accurately reflect the client's true financial position while still considering the client's best interest for the use of the deliverable. This is exemplified by using the accrual based accounting when discussing financial statements with the client and using cash based accounting when completing the annual tax return; normally this produces the most accurate financial picture for the client and the lowest tax liability.The client meetings will give sound business advice which will help our clients make informed business decisions.

Aukema and Company, PC will be a CPA firm, which will provide accounting and consulting services to businesses and individuals located western Michigan. Our product will be their peace of mind. Our services are financial statements, tax returns, and business consulting along with other financial related services businesses may need from time to time.

One of the items that set Aukema & Company, PC apart from other accounting firms' organizations is our willingness to tackle new and changing tax strategies. In doing this we save our clients tax dollars and prepare them for the tax changes. First, in 1998 Aukema & Company was one of the first small firms to amend several corporate state income tax returns to allocate income to states other than Michigan.
