I have worked with both Diana and Melissa over the years. They are both very helpful, kind, and patient. Although they could easily just file my taxes for me, they help me to understand the steps and everything I need to do so (and they do it ever year since I never remember). Diana is super knowledgeable about even the most complex of issues and puts my mind at ease.

Chan CPA & Company, Inc. has been helping me to prepare my expat tax return. I am located internationally but she makes accommodations to help within my hours. She also offers zoom or teleconference, which doesn't make me feel too far away. Diana and her team is extremely knowledge & experienced with expats, which is why I choose to have her prepare my complex tax return. I've worked exclusively with Diana, Caroline, Melissa & Patty, they have been extremely helpful and very responsive when I have questions or need explanations. Chan CPA & Company, Inc has also given really great advise & recommendations on tax savings.
For example, they also helped me go through different senarios in terms of a tax projection with different options and showed me what the outcome would be for each scenario to help me choose what decisions to make. They have also worked directly with my financial planner to help make critical decisions. They are also open all year to help with questions on day to day life. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a CPA or a new accountant, they have been extremely helpful.

Chan CPA demonstrated a wonderful combination of knowledge, professionalism, skills and effectiveness. They were able to answer the complicated tax questions I had on uncommon scenarios. They are even experts in real estate (rental & primary residences). They are there for us year round, and even offered me a complimentary summer meeting! They always answer the phone and allow me to ask questions that may not be very common giving me great advice without hesitation.

The team at Chan CPA helped me manage a super challenging, stressful, and complicated matter. I've worked with other accountants before but Chan CPA is the best -- Melissa and Diana (the team members I worked with) know their stuff and made my options clear and manageable. They've also been the greatest source of tax wisdom in the last few years with all of the tax code changes happening.
The receptionist (Patty, I think) makes you feel welcome right away and everyone else you work with only builds on the great initial experience. It's never super fun to go to the accountant (unless you're some kind of math nerd, maybe?), but Chan CPA makes it painless!

Horrible service! I was recommended to this firm from the next door app which I will be posting there too. I was in dire need of getting my 1099 for my small business completed. I was already 6 days behind completing them. Melissa -the daughter of the owner- knows how to swindle you especially when you are desperate for help. I was told when I came in to pay $350 up front which they never told me that was just a deposit.
To my knowledge it was to perform the work. All the work. And she also had said she could do it in a few days (3). Ok so I paid and I put my credit card down for them to keep. Big mistake. Never leave your card for a vendor to keep! After the 4th day I was wondering what was the hold up. They needed two more ein that Melissa never emailed on. I had to reach out and she finally responded after a day.
Then she preceded to tell me since she just gotten the new ein number it would take another 5 business days! After two weeks I was asking when they will be done. I know they were slammed and trying to buy time or charge me for that time. I was right when they finally called that they were ready after 2.5 weeks they said my invoice was $1900! They processed twenty-eight 1099s for me.
I was flabbergasted. I said to the front lady Patty which I am sure she is use to swindling people for the Chan's that I was not told it would be more. She said oh yes sweetie we charge by the hour. When the invoice finally came in there were no hours listed! It was just a straight preparing and rechecking etc all for $1900. I said I'm not paying.
I ended up doing my own 1099 through a phone call with Intuit. How long did it take me less than 2 hours! And I'm a novice with QuickBooks. If I can figure it out anyone can. The only advice I can give is to do your due diligence on this firm! This mother daughter team is a modern day Bonnie and Clyde! **Update** see forms below. A picture is worth a thousand words! Do you see deposit or hourly rates listed on them?

Nice people, very capable, but very unresponsive. You send emails and get no response for weeks, then have to call them to get them to check their emails. Documents don't come on time, people go on holiday and don't tell you. You call to get your taxes and are told that they are not done, and then find out that people are working 3 day weeks and the boss of the company is at home! But when they want payment, now your phone does not stop ringing. TIme to find a new accountant.
